It was exciting to receive an honorable mention at CAS(E) this Sketch for the card in my last post. Many thanks to the designers over there. I also appreciate all the kind comments.
They have another great sketch this week, CAS(E) this Sketch #110 by Leigh Penner. I always enjoy Leigh’s blog, to the full. This sketch has been more challenging for me. I played around with some grey ink and paper and this big flower stamp and ended up with this monochromatic Thinking of You card. I’m not entirely happy with that it yet I’m hopeful I’ll get more time or more inspired- or both.
Cardstock: silver, white
Ink: Memento London Fog
Stamps: Hero Arts flower, Stampin’ Up sentiment
Other: Basic Grey pearls
This paper from My Mind’s Eye is some of my favorite right now. I love the colors and it reminds me of my girl and makes me smile. I used it to paper piece the cute hedgehog from Unity and layered it similar to Retro Sketches #146.
Supplies for Just a Little Note
Patterned Paper- My Mind’s Eye My Girl
Ink- Hero Arts black, orange soda

Scrapfest was this past weekend at Mall of America. It’s an event I look forward to each year. Three days of workshops, make and takes, and new products. I’ve started adding an extra day at the end so that I can have some time in my craft room to try out the new techniques I’ve learned and play with the new stuff I’ve collected. It’s a fun and refreshing weekend.
So, I have a few things to share. One of my favorite card workshops was ‘Groovy Mini Cards’ by Archiver’s. We used cling stamps by Unity to make these cards. I love those sticklers on the paint can.
Then, at home, I spent a little more time playing with the stamps and came up with this.
The design and colors were inspired by the Case Study Challenge #158. I’m going to submit it there later tonight.
I also enjoyed the “Lovin’ Life” pages workshop by Bella Blvd. We made two really cute, not wedding-related pages and a card using their Love and Marriage line. I had to make some modifications to the design though because I do not like feathers. I know they’re trendy right now, but they just don’t do it for me. It’s something about the way they feel. And, that they’re from birds.
For the pages, I just left them off. I may add another embellishment in that spot after I add photos to the pages, or I may not. The feather was a really prominent part of the card, though I had to give some thought to what to replace it with. I finally settled on a cluster of embellishments, including a sentiment from the groovy Unity stamps. It’s hard to read in the photo, but it says “you color my world. ”
